Excellent Quest is set in a magical world on the brink of total upheaval. You are a young warrior who wakes up with no memory of who or where you are. Searching for answers, you venture to a nearby town where you begin to learn of the troubled times the world has fallen into. A great, unexplainable darkness is spreading all over the land and consuming the people in shadow and fear. From this darkness, evil monsters and beasts spring forth and attack any they come across.
It is a dark and desolate time, and yet many people still cling to a great hope. There is a legend among the people, supposedly occuring thousands of years ago. The legend tells of an unstoppable darkness consuming the world, and a sole warrior brave enough to conquer it: Lyathon. The people have hope in these new dark times because a champion brought light to a world full of darkness ages ago, so they believe it can happen again.
